Chief’s Camp

Our next camp was Chief's Camp located on the huge Chief's Island within the Okavango Delta. It is without a doubt the most beautiful camp I have been to.

Most camps are not fenced. We had some monkeys coming in front of our tent to feed on mushrooms that where growing under the terrace.

A lion pride on the island has specialised in the hunt of giraffes. While a kick of an adult giraffe can easily kill a lion, a giraffe is nearly defenceless if it falls over. Those lions are thus chasing the giraffe around until it stumbles in a hole.

This pride has killed this male giraffe during one night. Once all lions have had their fair share of meat, the buffet was open for all scavengers. You can barely see anything under the vultures.

Chief's Island is the home of several Rhinos that have been reintroduced to help save the specie. We were lucky enough to get to see a few.
